The California Department of Real Estate
The California Department of Real Estate (DRE) is the state agency that regulates real estate activities in California. The DRE is headed by the Real Estate Commissioner, who is appointed by the Governor. The DRE licenses and regulates over half a million real estate salespersons and brokers, investigates complaints, enforces the Real Estate Law, and protects consumers from fraud and misrepresentation.
